Sunday 10th June 2007

This fella attended 6ninerz in the interest if spending time with the Sunday School kids and learning how to go about sharing with them the word of God. I thus missed out on the message for the main service but attended the frontrunnerz so for a touching message you could click the frontrunnerz link to your right and get inspired about loving and likeing your personal space. This was a terrific message by Reverend Tony Kiamah.

God bless you all and take care. This sight will be back in action on Monday 18th of June with a full and inspiring message. Take care and God bless once again.

Sunday 28th May “Extreme Adventure: Extending Your Reach”

Dear Friends,

When is the last time you looked at your bulletin, it says, at front top

International Christian Centre

“Connecting People to God and each other

“Challenging Believers to Christ-likeness

Challenging the world”

Well Ladies and Gentlmen, hows that compared with the topic we had this Sunday? Its time we all began to reallt truely take the mission statement of ICC to heart and change the world to Christ-likeness. In my personal opinion, Pastor Chip and Co. pass that message to us each Sunday, Tuesday and the whole of last week (Prayer Week) in different messages.

Its our turn church!!! its our turn to hang our “Going to church to listen” Boots and wear our “Go out and spread the word” Boots. Do you all agree with me? if you do show your solidarity by adding a comming to this weblog that reflects your Gospel spreadiong ambition. Remember that your comments will be read by many people even those in the diaspora thus will assist greatly in spreading the word.

Ok… Off we Go To Sunday

We had a visiting team from ‘NCC’ in DC.. National Community Church in Washington DC.

Thier rep, Heather, Told of how they dont have any real church building as such but meet in 2 different movie theateres and in one large coffee house. Well Coffee house sounded rather alarming for most Kenyan’s but to the Americans, its a lovely place to meet because according to Heather…

“Church is not a building, but a group of people connected by a commmon experience and a common goal in christ…”

And ICC is also soon going to be a multi campus church. Well Pastor Chip calls it a Dual Campus but I want to look at the alredy exsisting one as dual campus since the frontrunnerz (River side Assemblies) are already campus 2.

PRAISE THE LORD!!!

Back to the sermon…

Extreme adventure

Adventure can be very exciting, Pastor chip encouraged you all to take an adventure, to do something adventureous, but on the same note we need to do soemthing adventureous using a Godlly approach.

Extending your reach can be a very extreme adventure.

1 Kings 17:7-15 (NIV)

The Widow at Zarephath

7 Some time later the brook dried up because there had been no rain in the land. 8 Then the word of the LORD came to him: 9 “Go at once to Zarephath of Sidon and stay there. I have commanded a widow in that place to supply you with food.” 10 So he went to Zarephath. When he came to the town gate, a widow was there gathering sticks. He called to her and asked, “Would you bring me a little water in a jar so I may have a drink?” 11 As she was going to get it, he called, “And bring me, please, a piece of bread.”

12 “As surely as the LORD your God lives,” she replied, “I don’t have any bread—only a handful of flour in a jar and a little oil in a jug. I am gathering a few sticks to take home and make a meal for myself and my son, that we may eat it—and die.”

13 Elijah said to her, “Don’t be afraid. Go home and do as you have said. But first make a small cake of bread for me from what you have and bring it to me, and then make something for yourself and your son. 14 For this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: ‘The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the LORD gives rain on the land.’ ”

15 She went away and did as Elijah had told her. So there was food every day for Elijah and for the woman and her family.

The sermon this unday was interactive with the participation of the church. We splat into groups of 3 and had to discuss what are our dreams. Well I am sure everyone had this faboulus thing they want to achieve one day. I want to fly a fighter jet, to become an ace…

Pastor Chip reminded us that life gets sofisticated as we grow older, we want to move beyond our younger years. In the story above from the bible, The widow obeyed Gods command. She, though had only or maybe less than enough to feed her son and herself, she broadened her horizon and did as Elijah Told her. She believed. She reached out.

Message…: Be inspired/Challenge afresh to be one that reaches out. When we give out of our need, God has what he needs to extend and meet someone elses need.

Look at the bible stor of two little fishes and 5 loaves whch when given to Jesus, met the needs of 5000 people. God used what the boy offered to share, which was probably his lunch or what his mom ahd sent him to the market for. He used it to feed a figure unimaginable to any man on this earth.

Pastor Chip Block at one point shocked the congregation by telling us his real name… Walter William Block III, His son is Walter William Benjamin Block IV. These are names he would haved used if he had taken over hos father and Granderfathers professon before him but he chose to spread thw word of God.

Friends Be blest and have a beautiful week ahead.

Yours Truely

Kathukya.

Sunday 13th May “6 Ninerz”

Dear friends,

Just as the message above says, I attended 6 ninerz. It was great! I know some of you have kids there. Its a great group. Well we learnt the story of Ezra, I wont keep you waiting, here it is…

WHEN the wall of Jerusalem was finished, Nehemiah called together all the Jews from the villages and cities in the land to meet in Jerusalem. They met, a great company with their wives and children, in an open place before the Temple. Ezra, the good priest and scribe, who had wrought so great a work in bringing together and writing the books of the Old Testament (see Story Sixteen), was in the city at that time. They asked Ezra to bring the book, and to read the law of the Lord to the people.

He came, carrying with him the great rolls upon which the law was written, and stood up on a pulpit which they had built, where all the people could see him; and with Ezra were men whom he had taught in the law, so that they could teach it to others.

When Ezra stood up in the pulpit, above the heads of the people, and unrolled the scroll, all the people, who had been sitting upon the ground, rose up, while Ezra gave thanks to the Lord, who had given to them his law. Then the people said “Amen!” with a loud voice, and they bowed until their heads touched the ground, and worshipped.

Then Ezra began to read in the book, aloud, so that as many as possible could hear. But as the people did not all understand the old Hebrew tongue in which the book was written, men were chosen to stand by Ezra; and as he read each sentence, these men explained it to the people, while all the people stood listening. So, as Ezra read, these men told its meaning, so that the people could understand the word of the Lord.

Thanks and be blessed.

Sunday 6th May 2007 “The Call”

Dear Friends,

This was a sad yet very fulfilling Sunday, infact the fulfilment over ran the sadness. Ok let me break it down and come off with the suspense. Sheeba and Pastor Anthony Francis are leaving us to go to Dubai, isn’t that sad? Well here is the good news, they are going as missionaries to spread the good word of God.

Well Pastor Anthony said that he was very happy to have a family like ICC, well I am happy to have had you for a Pastor Anthony.

Sheeba thanked us all for the love, support, prayers we had and continue to offer them and asked us not to stop praying for them as they go.

“Leaving ICC is heart breaking, but answering Gods calling has to be done. I appreciate the support the ICC pastoral team has given us” she said.

Genisis 12:1-4 (NIV)

The Call of Abram

1 The LORD had said to Abram, “Leave your country, your people and your father’s household and go to the land I will show you.

2 “I will make you into a great nation
       and I will bless you;
I will make your name great,
and you will be a blessing.

3 I will bless those who bless you,
       and whoever curses you I will curse;
       and all peoples on earth
       will be blessed through you.”

4 So Abram left, as the LORD had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Haran.

Mathew 4:18-22(NIV)

The Calling of the First Disciples

18As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 19“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.” 20At once they left their nets and followed him.

21Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them, 22and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.

Whereas God can do anything, foreverything there is a purpose. God does nothing for fun either in the past, the presend or in the future.

There is a purpose for each and every one of us. Each and every single part of us has a purpose, the body is made up of internal and external parts, as much as we humans may concentrate more on the ecternal parts, God created each and every single part of us with a purpose. Each and every single body part has its job desctription.

God did not make a mistake to create us, we are not an accident. We all have a divine cause, God does not favour to create some with more cause than others, WE ALL HAVE OUR UNIQUE DEVINE CAUSE!!!

We know that we have been called to perform a puprose, but frankly some of us choose to ignore that call. Look at Moses, he was not perfect, but God called him to lead the Israelites up out of Egypt.

Elijah and Elisha

Elijah called Elisha to come ant take over from him, leave what he was doing and come to serve God…

1 Kings 19:10-21 (NIV)

The Call of Elisha

19 So Elijah went from there and found Elisha son of Shaphat. He was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen, and he himself was driving the twelfth pair. Elijah went up to him and threw his cloak around him. 20 Elisha then left his oxen and ran after Elijah. “Let me kiss my father and mother good-by,” he said, “and then I will come with you.”
”Go back,” Elijah replied. “What have I done to you?”

21 So Elisha left him and went back. He took his yoke of oxen and slaughtered them. He burned the plowing equipment to cook the meat and gave it to the people, and they ate. Then he set out to follow Elijah and became his attendant.

Callings are not only Pastoral, note that Noah was not called to be a pastor or a missionary but he was called to serve God in another way, to build an ark of Gopher wood to hold all the animals of the world during the great flood. ( I like using the term Gopher Wood, As in God knew exactly what  timber would survive that type of flood. again to proove that he is the creater of the trees, he knows them untill their water absorbtion rate) think about it friends.

Anyway there are anointed Lawyers, Doctors, Musicians, IT Guys etc you all have a calling friends, that is what Pastor Anthony has been trying to stress to you.

Enter into the calling of God, Make that decision…

Pastor Anthony caused a laugh when he mentioned that when he first came to Kenya for bible school he doubted that it what his calling when he was subjected to Ugali and cold showers, things he had not experienced in Pakistan.

We must have endurance to go through these changes.

Jesus called the desciples to be fishers of men from fishermen.

Seek your purpose with God.

Yours Truely

Jonathan Kathukya
